Manufacturing companies organise themselves increasingly peripheral, due to mergers, dislocation of their sites or to be present internationally. In order to compete, the companies need to plan their business processes location-comprehensive. It is absolutely necessary that employers and even customers and suppliers have access to the particularly important product data worldwide.

HELiOS neXt support these requirements with two different procedures:
 

	The product model is at a central location; all other locations have direct access.
	The product model is transferred redundantly to several locations with a constant comparison of the model.

The functions of the transfer manager are used for the second procedure. Based on workflow management, any documents (e.g. scene drawings, parts lists, documentations etc.) including all meta data, can be transferred regularly and automatically to the document management of other locations, after defined processing steps. You are enabled to transfer the data bundled at specific times, e.g. during the night. It is important to know that the only connection necessary is the TCP/IP socket. This consequent restriction of the new transfer manager to only one (and nearly everywhere available) protocol level enables the use in the Internet and also in company captive networks. The minimum solution requires a network connection, available at specific intervals, e.g. a switched line.
