Standardisation is an important means to cut costs for manufacturing
companies. A decrease in part variety leads to a considerable reduction
of the administrative effort and produces larger part series in
production.
It is the aim of the Classification to bring parts with similar
characteristics together, e.g. production similarities of products and
their components. Classes are formed according to selected attributes
and connections are defined between these classes. Dimensions or
material of a part may be the criteria, but also production criteria
like production method, dimension and form tolerances or composition of
the surface. Searching within a specific range of the class, e.g. within
a certain diameter range, allows for a further restriction of the search
result.
Class Lists of Characteristics are defined to search systematically and
effectively for repetitive parts. Characteristics describe the part
independent of its origin and use. The gradual specification of
characteristics can be used to limit the number of objects in question.
This technique permits a fast and secure access to the parts,
assemblies, documents and projects managed by HELiOS neXt, even for very
complex data. The list will help you to display information about parts
and assemblies used in your company already in a considerably more
transparent way.
